On Thursday, December 8, 2016, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs hosted a community meeting at the Ransom Everglades School auditorium to provide an update on the Coconut Grove Playhouse project. Led by Michael Spring, Senior Advisor to the Mayor and Director of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the meeting featured detailed presentations from the design team experts relating the following:

Miami-Dade County’s design team, led by Arquitectonica International Corporation, has completed the program verification and master planning phase for the Coconut Grove Playhouse project.

Community Grants Program: This is a quarterly program for non-profit organizations developing small to medium scale community-based cultural programs, projects and events, such as fairs, parades, neighborhood festivals, conferences and publications.

Site Plan Options
Work on the site plan options for the Coconut Grove Playhouse is underway by the County’s design team led by Arquitectonica International Corporation. This process is being informed by the team’s theater consultants, Fisher Dachs Associates; structural engineer, Douglas Wood Associates; and historic preservation architect, Jorge Hernandez, among other design team members.
In recognition of his extraordinary leadership, Senior Advisor and Director Michael Spring honored by Americans for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts with the Selina Roberts Ottum Award, the highest honor in the field of local arts agencies.
