
Dennis C. Moss
A steadfast champion of arts and culture, Dennis C. Moss is a distinguished public servant known for his extensive contributions to Miami-Dade County. He was first elected to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in April 1993, representing District 9 in South Miami-Dade County. During his tenure, which spanned over 27 years until 2020, Moss held the position of Commission Chairman from 2009 to 2010. Following the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Commissioner Moss played a pivotal role in the region’s recovery. He spearheaded the South Dade redevelopment plan, later named The Moss Plan, which focused on rebuilding housing, infrastructure, parks, and transportation systems. This comprehensive strategy was instrumental in revitalizing the area and fostering economic growth and included the arts. Among his notable achievements, Moss was instrumental in the establishment of the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, which was renamed the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center in his honor.
