Rosie Gordon-Wallace

A guiding light for the Miami-Dade arts community, Rosie Gordon-Wallace is a recognized curator, community leader, and pioneer in advancing contemporary Caribbean diaspora

art. For more than three decades, Gordon-Wallace has been a legendary force for supporting emerging artists, the creation of new work, and helping create an environment where audiences and artists have opportunities to grow and learn. Generously contributing her powerful voice to make Miami a better place, Gordon-Wallace is a passionate and inspiring arts advocate. Originally from Jamaica, Gordon-Wallace founded Diaspora Vibe Culture Arts Incubator (DVCAI) in Miami to serve as a local and global laboratory dedicated to promoting, nurturing, and cultivating the vision and diverse talents of emerging artists from the Caribbean Diaspora, artists of color, and immigrant artists. Thirty years later, DVCAI is a phenomenal global resource and a leading platform dedicated to providing diaspora artists with a venue to explore and experiment with new forms and themes that challenge traditional definitions of Caribbean and Latin American art. A groundbreaking pioneer, Gordon-Wallace serves on several boards and is a member of the International Women’s Forum and the PAMM Fund for African American Art. Her awards include The Parker Thompson Legacy Award; the first-ever Miami-Dade County Mayor’s Legacy in Arts Award; African Heritage Cultural Arts Center 3rd Annual Calabash Amadlozi Visual Arts Award; International Businesswoman of the Year; and One of South Florida’s 50 Most Powerful Black Professionals. Her curations include The Whole World is Churning: Then and Now and Now and Beyond at the DVCAI at Barry University, Institute of Immigration Studies Gallery at the Monsignor William Barry Library; The Depth of Identity I and II at Green Space Miami, The Arsht Center and Miami Design District.
