COVID-19 Update and Marketing Workshop Opportunity

Dear Colleagues,

On Friday, February 25th, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced updates on COVID-safety policies and a strategic plan to guide our community into the future:

“Together, we learned so much in the last two years and it’s time to take that knowledge - rooted in science and data - and use it to be more proactive and adaptive against this evolving pandemic,” stated Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “The COVID-19 vaccine remains the single best tool we have to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our entire community from serious illness, hospitalization, or worse. I strongly encourage our community to get the booster shot if you haven’t already.” 

The following updates are now in effect:

  • Masks: The use of face masks will no longer be required in County buildings. Masks are still required at the Airport, Seaport, and on all public transportation per federal guidelines. 
  • Hospital Reporting: Hospitals are no longer required to submit daily reporting of COVID patients. The numbers of patients have decreased significantly and, fortunately, during the last wave our hospitals did not face a critical surge in critical patients.
  • Employee Testing: Non-bargaining County employees will no longer be required to do weekly COVID-19 tests. 
  • We know that many of you are continuing to implement COVID-19 policies, including the requirement to wear face masks. We understand and applaud your efforts to help protect the health and safety of audiences, artists and staff.

Mayor Levine Cava continues to strongly encourage residents who are eligible to get vaccinated and to get the booster shot. For the latest information on COVID-19 vaccination sites, please visit COVID-19 Vaccine Finder (miamidade.gov).

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

As arts audiences increasingly return to cultural events, we know that many cultural institutions are still struggling with lower than pre-pandemic attendance and that tickets sales and admission revenue is still comparatively down. We are partnering with the Arts and Business Council of Miami to provide scholarship opportunities for a workshop on how to increase your media coverage to build awareness and boost ticket sales.

Scholarships available for current recipients of Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs Grants: Cultural Development Grants, Developing Arts in Neighborhoods Grants, Hannibal Cox, Jr. Grants, Youth Arts Miami Grants and Community Grants.
