Dear Colleagues,
With what is likely to be our most usual start of season of the arts ever due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the COVID-19 Survey of Impact on Miami-Dade County's Cultural Community continues to be an important tool to document the profound impact of this health crisis on arts and culture. With the help of your monthly responses, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs has documented a total financial impact of $99.5 million with 15,965 arts and cultural jobs affected for the period of March – July 2020.
AUGUST SURVEY DEADLINE: Wednesday, September 23, 2020 (include data only from August 1-31, 2020)
RESPOND TO THE AUGUST SURVEY HERE.
To complete the August survey, you will need your organization's completed CO-FIT Tracker for the month of August (include only information from August 1 – 31) and a list of COVID-19 recovery support opportunities that you have applied for/received. Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions or contact your grants program administrator directly with questions. You can find a staff directory here.
We continue to share the survey results with our partners including local, state and national funders, media, and public and private sector leaders. Your participation helps us raise awareness of the urgent and ongoing need for support of artists and cultural organizations.
MICHAEL, WHAT IS REQUIRED TO RE-OPEN?
As a reminder, all cultural activities are subject to the Emergency Orders issued due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the County’s New Normal Guidebook. Subject to this Guidebook, nonprofit museums and public gardens can and are opening.
This week Mayor Carlos Gimenez announced that theaters, playhouses, and auditoria can now reopen at 50% capacity as long as they have a reopening plan approved by the County and are in conformance with the requirements in the New Normal Guidebook. For live performances, performers must be no less than 10 feet from patrons at all times and such patrons must observe such performances from tables or stationary seats.
Children and youth activities and dance studios continue to be open under the strict safety guidelines including masks and proper social distancing. Wearing face coverings in public is mandatory and the countywide curfew has been changed to 11 PM – 6 AM. The Emergency Orders issued by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez remain in effect until lifted. For more information, visit: http://www.miamidade.gov/coronavirus.
We are proud of the work that you are doing to find new, creative, and safe ways to work. The team at the Department is always ready to help and I know that together, we will make our way through this.
Stay safe!
