Florida Access Coalition for the Arts

The Florida Access Coalition for the Arts (FLACA) is a tri-county organization serving Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties to promote, provide, and facilitate equal access to every individual wanting to experience the arts.  FLACA grew out of the 2009 Kennedy Center-sponsored Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability (LEAD) Conference held that year in Washington, DC.

The coalition meets four times a year, rotating between FLACA member venues in order to share and discuss best practices, policies and procedures related to ADA/accessibility issues.

A partial list of current FLACA members include Miami Theater Center, Broward Center for the Performing Arts (and its managed venues), the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Miami City Ballet, the Bass Museum of Art, New World Symphony and The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater.

In 2011, founding FLACA members presented "Regionalizing the LEAD Experience," at the LEAD Conference held in Louisville, Kentucky.  This workshop provided a history of FLACA and the steps regional groups can take to create their own access coalitions throughout the United States.
