Youth Arts in the Parks

 Join the Spring 2016 Art or Creative Expression Club!

WHO: Children and youth with and without disabilities, ages 6-17* *youth with disabilities welcome up to age 22

WHAT: Have fun, make friends, make art, get creative!

  • VISUAL ARTS: Highland Oaks Park, 20300 NE 24 Avenue, Miami
  • CREATIVE EXPRESSION: Miller Drive Park, 5510 SW 94 Court, Miami
  • (NEW!) THEATER/IMPROV: African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, 6161 NW 22 Avenue, Miami

WHEN: Orientation (and payment due): 10 am, January 23, 2016

Classes: 9:30 am – 11 am, Saturdays: January 30 – April 16, 2016

Culminating Event: Exhibit/Performance/Reception: 3-5pm, Saturday April 23, 2016

About: Youth Arts in the Parks is presented by Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Disability Services and Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with Arts for Learning/Miami. Youth Arts in the Parks is an inclusive, socially-oriented arts program for children and youth with and without disabilities.

No prior art or creative expression experience is required. Participating students must be residents of Miami-Dade County. This fun and educational program teaches kids of all abilities visual arts, creative expression or theater/improv in a social setting, led by professional artists/art teachers, certified instructors and disability experts.

Space is Limited! Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Submitting a registration form does not guarantee a spot in the program. Priority consideration will be given to students from the Youth Arts in the Parks waiting list. Only registration forms that are fully completed will be accepted for enrollment.

Registration Deadline: All registration forms must be received by Tuesday, January 19, 2016 for priority consideration.

Program fees (to be collected at the orientation January 23rd:  First child - $40, Siblings - $20. Students qualifying for free/reduced lunch (with proof) - $20.
