City Commission Approves the County-FIU Playhouse Project!

On Wednesday, May 8, 2019 the City of Miami Commission approved the County’s appeal of the City’s Historic and Environmental Preservation Board (HEPB) rejection of the County-FIU plans for the Coconut Grove Playhouse by a 3 to 2 vote. This is a pivotal approval for the County’s work to bring great theater back to Coconut Grove.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez led the County’s presentation to the City of Miami Commission and emphasized that the City of Miami’s “choice is simple: approve our project or nothing happens to the Playhouse for years and years.”
