Dear Colleagues,
We understand the extraordinary hardships being caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and we are committed to helping as much as we can. For this reason, we are proud to announce that 540 Miami-based artists of all disciplines are receiving financial assistance through the Miami-Dade Artist Support! (MÁS!) Grants Program which was established in partnership with The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation.
Public-Private Partnership
Launched in June, the program is providing $500 awards as one-time grants to assist artists with urgent financial needs. The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and its Cultural Affairs Council are proud to be working together to support artists and our cultural community.
Jorge M. Pérez, founder of The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation and long-time patron of the arts shared this statement:
“The outstanding talent of Miami’s working artists is at the core of what makes our community unique. The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation is committed to the mission of helping artists prevail during this extraordinary time of need. Artists are essential to our community’s creative workforce and are defining our community as the place to be for tourism and economic development. We are pleased to join forces and resources with the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs to ensure the vitality of Miami’s cultural life.”
Xavier Cortada, Chair of our Cultural Affairs Council, wanted us to share this statement:
“Our working artists, their creativity and extraordinary talent are vital to our community. We are honored to stand with The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation on behalf of our Miami-Dade artists to help them survive this unprecedented crisis. We share the deep belief that artists’ work – now more than ever - is essential to our recovery, our lives and our future.”
Thank you and be safe!
