The General Manager manages the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center under the direction of the VP of  Operations of the Performing Arts Center Authority, in the operation of a successful Performing Arts Center.

Responsibilities

  • Administer an operating budget.
  • Attend City Manager Staff meetings and AACC Advisory Board meetings.
  • Provide resource support to the City of Aventura's City Manager in the application of grants.
  • Work with PACA and the City of Aventura to establish and maintain theater operation policies.
  • Prepare, process, and monitor facility use contracts and related documents.
  • Maintain the event calendar, strive to accommodate scheduling requests and distribute event related information to ensure the efficient and successful production of events.
  • Determine programming objectives to present a diversity of high quality, mission based, and accessible events to the community and leverage and maximize the return on the City of Aventura/PACA relationship.
  • Supervision of department staff and volunteers, including recruitment, coaching and training.
  • Collect and summarize actual event related expenses in prepared settlements.
  • Ensure prompt response to rental inquiries, distribute appropriate rental information, meet with users to prepare estimates of personnel, equipment, and material needs for  events.
  • Will provide supervision and management during events when necessary.
  • Will manage, edit, and maintain website content.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skilled in all aspects of a fast-paced, high volume theater production.
  • Knowledge of a Performing Arts facility operation, maintenance, accessibility, and technology.
  • Able to proactively manage and implement multiple, complex events at the same time.
  • Able to develop and implement a budget.
  • Able to supervise all aspects of a department.
  • Able to prepare event settlements.
  • Highly effective organizational, project management, and communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and networking skills to interact with the public.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Skilled in Windows based programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, in English.

Required Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree: Business/Theater Management/Arts Administration/or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Relevant theater management experience (10 years).
