Scope and Objectives:

The City Tours Manager is responsible for the creation and management of dynamic and engaging tours of our community, reflective of the institutional mission. This position will manage, promote and sell all city tours, private tours and lectures. The City Tours Manager is also responsible for providing the highest quality of customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the VP Education and Visitor Services to meet the goals and objectives for City Tour programs.
  • Identify promotional opportunities, generate sales and manage customer relations for all private and public tours.
  • Develop, evaluate and expand City Tour offerings.
  • Create customized itineraries for private tours.
  • Gather feedback from tour goers to optimize program offerings
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate City Tour guides
  • Develop partnership with community organizations and businesses to develop and promote tours.
  • Cultivate and maintain productive relationships with industry vendors.
  • Collect, maintain, analyze and report data on tour costs, usage trends and program audience members.
  • Maintain database accessible for interdepartmental utilization.
  • Conduct routine evaluation and observation of tours and programs
  • Manage all financial transactions, collect payments and maintain necessary records.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in group tour sales or the hospitality industry
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (evenings and weekends)
  • Team player
