Join the Miami Emerging Arts Leaders for a conversation about arts leadership with Marshall Davis, Director of the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center and a tour of the Center, featured in the Oscar-winning film “Moonlight”.

Since opening its doors in 1975, the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center has served as an outstanding center of arts in Liberty City and has launched the careers of established, high profile alumni who credit their successes in the arts to their high quality training and experiences at the Center. Artists such as: Tarell Alvin McCraney (Award-winning playwright and 2017 Oscar winner for Moonlight), Bianca Brewton (Dancer, Katy Perry; Beyoncé, Lemonade) and Robert Battle (Artistic Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.)

Hosted by the Miami Emerging Arts Leaders, a program of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, with support from the Arts and Business Council of Miami and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. Special thanks to  the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center.

The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and its volunteer advisory board, the Cultural Affairs Council, develop cultural excellence, diversity and participation throughout Miami-Dade County by strategically creating and promoting opportunities for our community’s thousands of artists and not-for-profit cultural organizations, and our residents and visitors who are their audiences. The Miami Emerging Arts Leaders is an initiative of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs to identify and cultivate the next generation of arts leaders in our community. Modeled after a successful emerging leader program initiated in 1999 by Americans for the Arts, the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America, the Miami Emerging Arts Leaders provides networking and resource sharing opportunities to encourage diverse, young/new arts administrators to explore professional development issues and opportunities.
