Thank you for your tremendous support at the City of Miami Commission meeting. Nearly 40 arts advocates attended, with 90% of the attendees voicing their support on behalf of the Coconut Grove Playhouse project. The cultural community’s enthusiastic support was evident, with some traveling as far as Delray Beach to speak on the importance of restoring great theater to Coconut Grove.
On Thursday, July 9th, the City of Miami Commission unanimousy approved Miami-Dade County's appeal, allowing the Department of Cultural Affairs to begin permitting for Phase 2 of the Coconut Grove Playhouse project. Phase 2 includes completing the rehabilitation of the Historic Gateway Building, construct the new theater, and deliver major improvements to the site.
As we reach this major milestone, the Department is committed to engaging and continuing to work with the local neighbors and community through the next phase of this project. If you'd like to participate in upcoming community meetings, please
