Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs releases quarterly and project-based grant application guidelines and deadlines for the 2019-2020 fall cycle

The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs has released guidelines and deadline schedules for the fiscal year 2019-2020 fall cycle of arts and cultural grants programs available to Miami-Dade County based non-profit cultural organizations. Guidelines containing information regarding eligibility requirements, funding requests and program criteria can be downloaded at www.miamidadearts.org by clicking GRANTS / GRANTS FOR ORGANIZATIONS. Grant guidelines can also be requested by calling the Department of Cultural Affairs at (305) 375-4634, or via email at culture@miamidade.gov.

Grant applications and supporting documentation will be submitted via the cloud-based, online grants management platform SurveyMonkey Apply at www.miamidadearts.smapply.io. The system offers users a friendly interface where applicants can easily submit grant applications, track support documents and generate final reports. 

Interested applicants for the following programs must attend the mandatory pre-application grant workshop or schedule a pre-application consultation with the Grant Administrator. Please review each program’s guidelines for specific instructions regarding this requirement.

QUARTERLY GRANT PROGRAMS

Community Grants Program (CG)

A quarterly program for non-profit organizations developing small to medium scale community-based cultural programs, projects and events, such as fairs, parades, neighborhood festivals, conferences and publications.

Tourist Development Grants Program (TDC)

A quarterly program which provides support to significant cultural and/or special events, including sports activities and television/film origination projects that promote Miami-Dade County’s appeal as a tourist destination. Activities must be able to stimulate tourism and have significant media impact for Miami-Dade County.

YOUTH ARTS PROGRAM

Summer Arts and Science Camps for Kids Grants Program (SAS-C)

This annual program helps non-profit organizations provide underserved children in Miami-Dade County with opportunities to attend high quality cultural arts and science summer camp programs at little or no cost. Funding is intended to supplement established, high quality programs, providing more children with the opportunity to participate in cultural arts and science summer camps.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

Audience Access Grants Program (AUD)

Provides funding to help pay for arts program ADA/access technology and services, such as American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, captioning, audio description, materials in accessible format, ADA/access training, and other such services to ensure programmatic access for audiences of all abilities. This program is not intended to provide assistance in funding capital/facilities projects or improvements, such as construction, renovation or major equipment purchases.

Applications for this program are accepted on a year-round basis, subject to the availability of funds.  Funding is limited, and eligible projects will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.  Funded projects are paid on a reimbursement basis.

PRE-GRANT SUBMISSION WORKSHOPS:

First-time applicants are required to attend a pre-grant submission workshop. Applicants must be a registered user of SurveyMonkey Apply to apply for a Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs grant. For more information about the Department of Cultural Affairs and its programs, please visit www.miamidadearts.org. Grant funding for FY 2019-2020 is contingent upon the approval of Miami-Dade County’s FY 2019-2020 budget by the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
