Poetic Gestures

In Miami, poetry can be shared in many languages: English, Spanish, Creole, Russian, and Chinese, to name a few. However, one language is often overlooked: American Sign Language (ASL), a language of gestures for people who are hearing impaired.  Poetic Gestures shares the beauty of this language with the general public and celebrates the anniversaries of its participating organizations.

Join All Kids Included, Arts for Learning, O, Miami and Waving Hands as we celebrate some important birthdays!

O, Miami – 5 years

AKI turns – 10 years

Arts for Learning – 15 years

Americans with Disabilities Act – 25 years

John Paul Jebian, co-founder of Waving Hands, together with students of ASL will teach participants how to sign “Happy Birthday” and a short poem. Participants can enjoy a free piece of birthday cake and learn to sign short poems.
